Handmade Railroad Man Incense Smoker
The Story
High quality Germany made wooden craft. The earliest German smokers, or Rauchermen, first came into existence in the late 1600s in the Ore Mountain area in Germany. Local artisans designed these tiny figurines by carving and turning them out of a piece of wood that is prevalent in the mountainous region. The wooden smokers and their accessaries are totally handcrafted one by one by the artisan.
The German smokers are made from two pieces of wood that fit together to create one body. A small incense cone could then be placed inside the smoker, allowing it to burn efficiently and causing the smoke to come out of the figurine's mouth. German smokers are traditionally carved in the shapes of working men, such as clockmaker, toy peddler, farmers, fisherman, postman, and other every day workers.
